As part of its ongoing commitment to community development and quality education, Bangko Kabayan Inc. (BK) continues to extend its support to public schools across Luzon and the Visayas through its annual participation in the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program.
Supporting School Infrastructure and Facilities
In response to the deteriorating condition of school buildings in areas such as San Juan, Lobo, Ibaan, Lipa City, and Calaca City in Batangas—where heat and rainfall had worn down roofs, doors, and walls, BK provided painting and cleaning materials to help restore these facilities. Employee volunteers actively participated in repainting and cleaning efforts, contributing their time and labor to improve the learning environment for students.
Addressing Classroom Needs
Recognizing the need for better classroom ventilation, especially during hot afternoons, Bangko Kabayan donated electric fans in Lipa City, Calaca, Tanauan City, and Cuenca. These fans not only enhanced air circulation but also helped minimize the presence of dengue-carrying mosquitoes during the rainy season.
To support the rollout of the new DepEd curriculum, which requires printed activity sheets, BK also donated printers and ink to four schools—two in Rosario, Batangas, and two in Sariaya, Quezon—helping teachers meet their student'seducational needs.
Providing Furniture and Sanitation Support
To accommodate growing student populations, Bangko Kabayan facilitated the donation of pre-loved tables and chairs from its Executive-GSAD team to Pangao Integrated School in Lipa City. The school committed to refurbishing the furniture to make it suitable for classroom use.
In Daanbantayan, Cebu, BK responded to hygiene concerns by donating toilet bowls and faucets to Daanbantayan National High School. Employees from the BK Daanbantayan Branch collaborated with teachers and volunteer parents to clean and install new fixtures.
Likewise, in response to classroom seating shortages in Iloilo due to increasing enrolment, BK’s Pototan and Balasan branches donated additional school chairs to Pototan Pilot Elementary School and Mamhut Elementary School in Balasan. Staff and parent volunteers helped set up and arrange furniture to create a more comfortable learning environment for students.
Promoting Clean and Safe School Grounds
BK Iloilo City branch provided a much-needed grass cutter and PVC pipes to Iloilo Central Elementary School (ICES). Donating the grass cutter helps maintain the school grounds, particularly the play and rest areas frequently used by students during breaks. Meanwhile, the PVC pipes met the school's increasing water requirements, ensuring a consistent supply from its expanded tank system to service 42 classrooms—promoting good hygiene practices among students.
Recognitions and Partnerships
As a result of its active involvement, Bangko Kabayan was honored by Bulacnin Elementary School as one of its Top Partners during the 2024 Local Stakeholders Convergence cum Gawad Kabalikat event, held on November 18, 2024, at the Claro M. Recto Events Center, Barangay 7, Lipa City. The event carried the theme “Pugay Kabalikat Tungo sa Edukasyong Pinatibay.”
Maximo T. Hernandez Memorial Integrated High School recognized Bangko Kabayan as a valued stakeholder during its 2024 Stakeholders Day, held on December 18, 2024, in Malainin, Ibaan, Batangas.
