IRBFI Business Development Services

As Bangko Kabayan expands to various municipalities in Batangas, we also continue to think of ways to cater to our current clients’ needs by providing additional products and services. One of the projects that we have embarked on is the BDS Program (which consists of Additional Skills Training (AST) for our Microfinance clients and SUNDAN, both handled by our social arm, the IRBFI.)

BK’s Microfinance clients are involved in various kinds of businesses such as weaving, pottery, selling food products like atchara, lambanog, banana chips, tablea, etc. However, aside from these microenterprises, most of the clients would like to venture into other income-generating activities to be able to augment their daily earnings. Others would like to learn more about their current businesses – how they can improve their operations and marketing initiatives. With a little help on training and capacity building, they will be more productive and efficient with the way they handle their businesses. They even have the potential to provide additional employment to other family members or barriomates, thus making a real impact in the local economy.

Ibaan Rural Bank Foundation, Inc. provides business development services (including business management techniques, product development, marketing) as an incentive to clients who have excellent track records and for enterprises that have the potential to grow bigger with minor interventions (i.e. operational and strategic training).

A. Additional Skills Training

Objectives:
• To link LGUs, NGOs, other organizations (OCVAS, TESDA, etc.) with clients who are interested in learning technical skills in order to start additional businesses or improve existing businesses

• To identify, connect, and provide assistance to centers who are willing to become production points and centers who want to become marketing points

B. SUNDAN “Sulong, UNlad, ProDuktong KapitAN”
Product Development Assistance

Objectives:
• To provide business development services (including business management techniques, product development, marketing) as an incentive to clients who have excellent track records and bigger production capacity

• To provide assistance to enterprises that have the potential to grow bigger with minor interventions (i.e. operational and strategic training) through linkages with other organizations, universities, like-minded and complementary institutions.

C. Entrep-Eskwela
Grassroots Entrepreneurship Management Course for MF Clients

Targeted for microentrepreneurs and clients of microfinance institutions, Entrep Eskwela is composed of roughly 100 modules in micro and small business entrepreneurship using cases and other learning materials which have been jointly developed by ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation and Center for Community Transformation (Taken from http://www.abs-cbnbayanfoundation.com). Starting 2008, BK will roll out this course to chosen MF clients in order to help them manage their enterprises better. Topics include Personal Visioning, Opportunity seeking, seizing, and screening, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and HR Management for microentrepreneurs.
